Top Things To Do In Oman – 1 Day Itinerary
09.00 – 12.00 – Mystical Muscat – City Tour visiting the Grand Mosque, Museum, Fish Market and Muttrah Souq
Experience the ‘must do’ historical and cultural sites of Muscat during a special city tour.
Start the tour with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand mosque, the largest mosque in Oman accommodating up to 20,000 worshippers with stunning architecture and design. Then head to Bait Al Zubai Museum, housing tens of thousands of rare artefacts showcasing Oman’s pre-modern Islamic architecture and culture. Next, take a drive along the waterfront visiting the fish market and colourful Muttrah Souq one of the oldest markets in Oman.
12 – 2pm Brunch at The Chedi
From Sushi to Lobster and Arabic Mixed Grills to Pastas, The Chedi’s brunch is back with a new Tapas concept that you won’t want to miss.
2 – 7pm – Helicopter trip to Jabal Akhdar
Get a birds eye view of Oman and the spectacular Hajar mountain range below. Otherwise known as the grand canyon of Oman, standing 2000M above sea level. Jabal Akhdar is famous for its local villages, stunning hikes and adventurous activities. Embark on a village walk overlooking dramatic peaks, gorges and wadis.
7pm – 8pm – Stargazing
Some of the clearest skies are found in Jabal Akhdar, with views of the stars, moon and planets. Enjoy a romantic evening under the stars with your own astral guide learning about the big bang and time travel.
8pm – a luxury nights sleep
Sleepover at Alila Jabal Akhdar – a gorgeous boutique hotel set around the mountains. Carefully designed from local woods and stones, Alila is a stylish and intimate way to spend a night in the mountains. Relax by the pool with views overlooking the edge of the rugged gorge. Enjoy a sumptuous meal in one of their two restaurants or indulge in a spa treatment.
6am – 9am – Depart the mountains for the desert –
On route to the desert, stop in Nizwa, the old capital of Oman. Wander the old fort which holds huge historical value and visit the Nizwa Souk soaking in the local traditional Omani ambience. Continue your journey to the Wahiba Sands desert, a vast mass of a red and white sea of sand and dunes rising 200m high. Get adventurous with a 4WD dune drive, camel trekking and sand duning.
9am – 11am – Wadi Bani Khalid
Before heading back to Muscat travel via the natural Wadis and along the coastline. Distinguished by its caves and large pools that constantly flows throughout the year. Take a walk to the natural water pool and caves, take a dip and enjoy the cliff surroundings.
