The Islands of Tahiti are picture-perfect dots of tropical bliss, known around the world for their emerald-green peaks, turquoise lagoons, swaying palms and underwater wonders. While it’s true these paradise isles are a long way from the runway at London Heathrow, we promise that every hour in the air is worth it! With regular connections from Los Angeles, Tokyo and Auckland, the journey has been made easier and more comfortable than ever before, thanks to the fabulous new aircraft and in-flight service offered by our friends at Air Tahiti Nui.
The story and sense of place
The airline’s new Dreamliner range offers more than just a means to reach this South Pacific paradise. The aircraft tell the story of the islands, bringing to life the rich culture and vibrant colours of this island nation.
With annual visitor numbers to Tahiti similar to the number of weekly arrivals in Hawaii, you can be sure of plenty of space in these beautiful tropical islands. This sense of space begins the moment you board Air Tahiti Nui’s Dreamliner, thanks to the high ceilings and wide body. The cabins are fresh, bright and airy, giving passengers a sense of the Tahitian islands while they are flying, and setting the scene for what’s to come! The colour scheme is inspired by the lagoons, the ocean and the blue skies of Tahiti, and the fabulous livery showcases the culture and heritage of the islands. The art of tattooing began in Tahiti, and so each Dreamliner is beautifully decorated with tattooed images of manta rays, whales, waves and Tahiti’s national flower, the sweet-scented tiare.
The fleet
Named after four beautiful islands, the fleet is comprised of Tetiaroa – home to The Brando, Fakarava – a diver’s paradise; Tupaia – a striking heart-shaped atoll in the Society Islands and, needing no introduction, Bora Bora. Each aircraft offers state-of-the-art air filtration, quieter engines, larger windows for soaking up the views as you fly across the South Pacific, less cabin pressure for a more comfortable flight, and higher humidity to keep dry eyes and dry skin at bay.
The seating lowdown
The three-class configuration provides a range of seating to suit all travellers. Poerava Business Class features flatbed seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, which suits couples (the main visitors to the islands) far better than the 1-2-1 configuration favoured by other airlines. A wonderful addition to the airline’s seating range is the Moana Premium Economy Class, featuring a very comfortable cradle seat that reclines 20cm, with a footrest for enhanced relaxation. With just 32 seats across five rows, this cabin provides a great upgrade option without breaking the bank. Ask your consultant for more details and a tailor-made quotation.
