My family and I had the luxury of staying at the Al Bustan Palace in Oman this April, and I could not have found myself in a better location to forget about my impending final exams at university upon my return home. The main lobby is the first (but certainly not last) feature that takes your breath away as you step into the palace. Not only were all the staff incredibly lovely and hugely helpful, but you almost wish they wouldn’t be so efficient so you can take in the mile high, stunning ceilings for a little bit longer.
The bedrooms were beautiful, and we had a gorgeous view over the mountains, allowing us to steal a little bit more of the sunset. The buffet-styled breakfast meant that we could sample lots of different Middle Eastern specialities, as well as treat ourselves to some home comforts.
The enormous pool and fountains that danced across it were the perfect break from the seriously hot climate, and if you wanted more privacy, the sea was deliciously warm and hours could be spent floating in it without a care in the world. My sister and I went snorkelling and also managed to see a sea turtle, which was a huge (and unexpected) highlight. Being brought cold towels from the pool staff was also a real cherry on top.
The shuttle service into town meant that going to the local souqs was really easy and you always felt like you were being incredibly well looked after.
