Having just returned from my own family holiday to the Maldives, here are my top five reasons for choosing Dhigali in the Maldives for your next Maldives Family Holiday.
Top 5 Reasons why families love Dhigali in the Maldives
1 – The Kids Club!
With daily activities throughout the week, including fun and games for kids of all ages, the kids club is the focus at Dhigali. Ranging from Henna tattoos to coconut painting, arts and crafts to water play, it’s the perfect place for little guests to escape their parents! The building itself is a lovely (air-conditioned!) space, with lots of toys, games and equipment. Outside there is a kids-only splash pad and climbing frame. Children aged four years and above can attend free of charge.
2 – Dining
The kid’s menu at Dhigali was great, featuring a variety of the traditional go-to dishes you’d expect, as well as some super healthy local options like grilled fish and veg and delicious rice dishes, too. The grab and go café was one of our favourites to get a lighter bite to take back to the villa if you don’t fancy a sit down meal, plus they do incredible cakes! However, you can’t beat going to the Haali bar at sunset to enjoy a chocolate smoothie and wood-fired pizza, whilst enjoying live music!
3 – Swimming Pools
The pool area was so brilliant for families, with a super shallow area for infants and toddlers, as well as a slightly deeper pool for kids to play and swim safely without being in the deep adult’s pool. It’s such a small detail but for parents to be able to relax knowing their children are safe in the water, is such a huge selling point.
4 – Things To Do
The island is large in comparison to some of the other Maldivian properties, so there is lots of space to run and be free. We loved the Jungle Walk which takes you through an educational walkway of lush foliage, learning about all the different flora and fauna as you go. There is also a games area with table tennis and pool which my boys (and husband!) loved. The all-inclusive package includes a glass bottomed boat trip to spot the marine life surrounding the island, and a separate dolphin trip which was amazing. The lagoon around the island is very calm so a great place for kids to learn to snorkel around the beach and house reef.
5 – Villas
For families sharing accommodation, the Beach Villas and Beach Suites are best, in my opinion. Both options offer direct beach access, an impressive minibar which is replenished daily and the comfort of your own space and privacy. If you are able to go for a Beach Villa with pool, you can spend so much time together in your own private space or if you are looking for larger accommodation, go for two interconnecting Beach Bungalows.
