It is really difficult to put into words ‘that feeling’ when you arrive at House in the Wild in Maasai Mara Kenya. A mix of warmth and happiness, overwhelmed with beauty and feeling like home. That’s the best I can do! But believe me, House in the Wild is a luxury safari lodge that’s unbelievably special. Driving into the private conservancy in the North of the Mara, you pass a watering hole where hippos are chilling out and zebras are enjoying a drink. Arriving at the lodge, you are welcomed kindly by the incredible team they have here. They bring you through to the main lodge area. A large manicured green garden, with a beautiful pool overlooking the river Mara. The lodge itself is rustic and feels like a true African safari lodge yet so luxurious and each ornament and trinket has been thought out to add to the creative décor, and everything just works!
The luxurious lodge is made up of six unique rooms, tucked into an enchanting forest area and built within the trees and at one with the surroundings. They each have their own design and theme, each one more cleverly put together than the next. The rooms are spacious with large outdoor showers, free standing tubs, river views and insanely comfy beds! Super luxurious and just perfect.
The FOOD! House in the Wild had some of the best food I tasted across all of Africa. Each dish was so well crafted and beyond delicious. I know this sounds ridiculous but the potatoes we had with our steak were one of the best things I have ever eaten. I’m still dreaming about it. The chefs are gatekeeping the recipes and I don’t blame them. Breakfast and lunch on the banks of the river Mara, in the sunshine, is such a beautiful setting. The chefs will make you anything you want! No request is too much for them and they work their magic and make it taste better than you could have ever imagined.
Incredible Wildlife & Views At This Mara River Safari Lodge
So although House in the Wild is such an incredible safari lodge and it feels like a crime to leave the grounds… there is also amazing wildlife to view all along the Mara River! No seriously, the game viewing in this conservancy was outstanding. We saw everything! And the best part? There are literally no other vehicles around! The whole experience is so exclusive which really is make or break when it comes to a safari. Within one game drive we saw a pride of lions, loads of different gazelles, zebras, elephants, SO many giraffes and so much more. It was beyond incredible and felt so special. Our guide was brilliant. So knowledgeable about the animals and the land, he could see wildlife for miles away I couldn’t even see with my binoculars! And tracked animals to find the hidden pride of lions. It was so cool.
I cannot fault the logic. It truly is magical. If you want the perfect luxury safari lodge experience, look no further than House in the Wild, located along the banks of the Mara River it’s a stunning place to be. I am already painfully jealous of anyone getting to go here!
