Is Thailand Good For Honeymoons?
Here’s why Thailand makes a good honeymoon destination:
Thailand is a country with so much to see and do for those seeking a honeymoon with more than just a beach. From culture in Bangkok and the north of Thailand, to its jungle interior with rainforest clad mountains teeming with wildlife and of course mesmerising beaches. With 1500km of beaches Thailand has one to suit everyone, from serene castaway islands sands to livelier buzzy beach enclaves with local bars and restaurants nearby. We have handpicked some gorgeous boutique boltholes where honeymooners will be pampered and made to feel extra special. The Thai’s know how to do hospitality and there is a luxury retreat for all budgets and style preferences – romantic private pool villas are a must for a honeymoon, combine this with a floating jungle camp in Khao Sok National Park or Tented retreat in the north or a luxurious suite with views of the river in vibrant Bangkok.
What top destinations/areas in Thailand would you recommend for honeymoon couples and why?
It does depend on when you travel as weather patterns vary throughout the country. Ideal for summer weddings, the islands in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are at their weather best between March and September, when the rest of the country is slightly wetter. So, Koh Samui is perfect and is home to some gorgeous resorts with romantic pool villas fronting idyllic beaches. Or, for guests seeking a winter wedding, or having a later honeymoon then the ideal time for the rest of the country is from November to April – we’d suggest combining a couple of beach resorts, such as Koh Yao Noi, Khao Lak and Krabi and Koh Lanta, which are much more natural and less developed than some other beach resorts. These can be combined with a jungle escape on an elephant camp in Khao Sok National Park – Elephant Hills. Alternatively head north and stay in one of the beautiful country retreats in the Golden Triangle or the countryside surrounding Chiang Mai. These are the ideal base for hiking in the national parks or ethical elephant encounters.
Are there any Thailand honeymoon packages or deals with Turquoise that you can recommend/suggest?
If travelling in our summer we love the combination of Koh Samui with Koh Phangan, staying for a couple of nights in a boutique riverside retreat in Bangkok and then heading down to the islands with a stay in two gorgeous hideaways – Six Senses Samui and Anantara Rasananda, both with their own private pools – https://www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk/destinations/asia/thailand/bangkok-and-island-hopping-honeymoon/
Alternatively, in winter we’d love to suggest a combination of The Surin in Phuket and Pimalai on Koh Lanta with 2 nights in Khao Sok National Park in the middle – https://www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk/destinations/asia/thailand/couples-idyllic-beach-jungle/
Or a combination of Chiang Mai, staying in the beautiful Raya Heritage, followed by a week at Six Senses Yao Noi – a dreamy retreat with awe-inspiring views of Phang Nga Bay from your private pool villa – https://www.turquoiseholidays.co.uk/destinations/asia/thailand/bangkok-chiang-mai-and-yao-noi-journey/
What are the top couples activities and things to do for honeymooners in Thailand?
There are plenty of romantic and fun couples activities and things to do for honeymooners in Thailand. Thailand is known for its delicious cuisine and a cooking class is a must for any honeymoon. Many of the luxury resorts offer their own culinary journey including a visit to a local market, alternatively book onto Grandma’s cooking school for a day experience from Chiang Mai or stay at Khum Lanna, a countryside retreat with a focus on local life and Thai cuisine. Elephant encounters are another popular activity which can be incorporated into any itinerary – either in northern Thailand for a day at Elephant Nature Park from Chiang Mai, a stay at Anantara Golden Triangle or a stay at Elephant Hills, who have a camp near Chiang Mai or near Phuket and Khao Lak. Finally – a private boat trip through either Phang Nga Bay if staying on the west coast or out to Ao Thong Marine Park from Koh Samui.
What Thailand travel tips would you give couples when it comes to planning a honeymoon & how to choose where to go?
We can take all the stress out of creating tailor made honeymoons as we know how to combine different destinations, and which are best at what time of the year. Staying in a few different areas involves flights, transfer, tours and accommodation and we’ll be able to recommend the best resorts for your budget and preferred style of accommodation, having visited them all ourselves. In terms of Thailand travel tips, generally speaking, the west (Andaman) coast, Bangkok and the north is best between November and April and the Gulf of Thailand Islands are best from February to September. We’ll be able to discuss how much or how little you want to include and ensure everything runs smoothly for what should be a holiday of a lifetime. We’ll also ensure the hotels take special care of honeymooners and extend extra treats to make them feel special. Must pack item – Sarong if visiting temples and a bikini for the beach!
