With the UK entering a second national lockdown for four weeks and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office advising against all but essential travel, sadly we won’t be hopping on a plane until December at the earliest. However, that doesn’t mean we have to write off travelling altogether – you can still get a taste for it at home. If you’re dreaming of the Maldives, here’s a recipe for a Maldivian Lady cocktail to help you reminisce over a past holiday or look forward to future adventures.
Maldivian Lady cocktail
Ingredients
3cl white rum
2cl apricot brandy
A dash of grenadine
7cl orange juice
7cl pineapple juice
Method
1. Mix the rum and brandy and shake together.
2. Pour into a glass with crushed ice.
3. Add the dash of grenadine.
4. Add the orange and pineapple juices.
5. Decorate with a cherry or slice of pineapple.
6. Enjoy!
Fancy a snack to go with your drink? Then why not make a couple of traditional Maldivian snacks to go with them – we’d suggest either gulha (dumplings stuffed with tuna, coconut, onion and chilli) or bajiya (fried dough parcels filled with fish, coconut and onion).
