We are bringing you the stunning Six Senses Laamu. One of our Indian Ocean specialists, Grace is sharing her favourite snippets of the incredible island and why you really should choose this hotel for your next trip…
On how to get there…
‘Six Senses Laamu is well worth the journey. After arriving at Male airport, you then have to get a domestic fight, which isn’t particularly glamourous, but this is followed by a fabulous speedboat ride to the island and the resort welcome is unrivalled!’
On the wonderful rooms and our Turquoise tips…
‘If you’re looking for ultimate privacy, then the Beach villas at Six Senses Laamu are much more private than the overwater villas. Request numbers 90-97 if you want sunset views. I also loved these rooms for the warm orange and pink colour scheme. For families, the Family Beach Villa has a separate second bedroom and a lovely rooftop terrace and dining area. My tips for the water villas at Laamu, Jetty A is the best jetty to be on if you want to be closer to the facilities. Choosing a villa further out on the jetty (such as an Ocean-facing water villa or Laamu water villa) will guarantee wonderful views.’
On Food and Drink…
‘Six Senses Laamu has a really individual and varied cocktail menu that includes ‘special G&T’ with added tea leaves. If there is nothing there for you, the team will happily make something based on ingredients you like! For a special experience, the Beach BBQ is really lovely with a romantic setting and locally caught fish.’
On special extras…
‘Complimentary bikes are given to all guests at Six Senses Laamu so that they can explore the island and buggies are also available. You are assigned a GEM (Guest Experience Maker) who will look after you and be on call during your stay. As for my best personal tip? Chill Bar is a fantastic location for snorkeling, and make the most of the sunset from the overhanging netting here- the views are beautiful!
