When speaking with our clients about their next exciting trip, whether it be a honeymoon, a family holiday or just an excuse to escape the often dreary UK weather, it’s always surprising to hear how varied the ‘perfect’ trip is. Whether it’s the location, the facilities or even the food, everyone has their own idea of what makes their holiday out of the ordinary. After a recent trip to Southeast Asia, I wanted to collate the ‘best of’ Thailand – to give you inspiration about what makes your holiday unforgettable.
The best view
For some, the thought of waking up in a new and exciting corner of the world, to stunning views, is what makes a holiday truly unforgettable; not to mention Instagrammable! For me, the show stopper in Thailand is Six Senses Yao Noi. This island paradise has a stunning Hilltop Reserve, with a restaurant and main infinity pool overlooking the famous Phang Nga Bay.
The best beach
The beach is an important aspect of almost every trip, and while Thailand is spoilt for choice when it comes to coastal beauty, the pick of the bunch has to be Anantara Rasananda. Located on the eastern island of Koh Pha Ngan, this Thai inspired hotel is every beach bum’s dream. Accessed by boat, you instantly feel the powdery sand between your toes and with good swimming conditions, you won’t be spending much time in your room!
The best spa
With the stress of work and everyday life, rest and relaxation has never been more important, and what better way to unwind than with a spa treatment? While all of our hotels feature wonderful spa facilities, my absolute favourite comes from the Rayavadee. This jungle retreat in Krabi transports you to an oasis as soon as you enter the spa building, and the knowledgeable therapists will have you emanating calm in no time at all.
The best bathroom
While many don’t like to admit it, bathrooms are important. Showering before dinner, after a day catching the rays or exploring, is always one of my most longed for elements of a trip, and therefore this initially unassuming room can actually hold the key to the perfect holiday. For me, The Sarojin ticks all of the boxes in this category. Right from their lead in room category, they absolutely nail their bathrooms. With a semi-outdoor style, one of the best rainforest showers I have ever had the pleasure of standing under, and huge bathtubs, you will find yourself looking for any excuse to wash!
The best pool
This was a hard one, as what really does make a pool so great?! Is it the size, the location, the clientele? In my opinion it’s everything, and SALA Samui really hits the spot in this category. With two large pools right next to the beach; one for families and another for adults, they cater for everyone without making you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. For couples, the lily-pad laden pond that surrounds the adults-only pool creates a really romantic atmosphere, and the around the pool beach-club vibe tops off the chic atmosphere of this modern hotel perfectly. Ibiza eat your heart out.
The best breakfast
Finally, everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, whether you are about to spend a day exploring or sunbathing (relaxation burns calories too you know). Therefore you need a breakfast that is going to cater for everyone, no matter your taste or fancy. The Tubkaak is by far the winner here, with a wide range of organic, local and fresh produce available every day. Freshly squeezed juice, made to order eggs and even some local dishes, you are sure to find something to give you that first ‘happy food dance’ of the day. That and the pretty beachside location – what more could you ask for?
