If, like us, you’ve been glued to the latest season of The White Lotus, then you’ll know that this time, the drama has landed in Thailand. While the fictional ‘White Lotus Thailand’ is set at the stunning Four Seasons Koh Samui, the production team filmed all over the country, using some of Thailand’s most incredible hotels and locations as the backdrop.

Koh Samui

Much of the series unfolds in Koh Samui, one of Thailand’s most accessible islands, just a short flight from Bangkok and other Asian hubs like Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. It has a huge choice of accommodation and plenty to do, yet it’s smaller, quieter, and less developed than Phuket, with a laidback island ambiance. Chaweng is the island’s lively hub, known for its nightlife, shops, bars, and restaurants. But beyond Chaweng, things are much more low-key, with many of our favourite resorts tucked away in secluded bays or near the charming Bophut Fisherman’s Village. Samui’s lush interior remains largely untouched, offering jungle treks and waterfalls.

Four seasons Koh Samui

The Four Seasons Koh Samui is the show’s main location, with its stunning ocean-view villas and private infinity pools providing the ultimate White Lotus experience. But it’s not the only Samui hotel to get screen time.

Anantara Bo Phut Koh Samui

Anantara Bo Phut Koh Samui – This beachfront hideaway makes multiple appearances in the series. Its lobby, tropical resort entrance, and even the jewellery store all play their part.

Anantara Lawana Koh Samui

Anantara Lawana Koh Samui – Perched in the canopy of a 120-year-old tree, The Singing Bird Lounge is a dreamy spot for a pre-dinner drink with epic views of Koh Samui’s natural beauty. It was used as the location for the bar scenes.

Beyond the hotels, you’ll also spot some of Koh Samui’s best locations, from the white sands of Choeng Mon Beach to the vibrant Fisherman’s Village, which plays host to a Songkran water fight—one of Thailand’s biggest and best celebrations.

Phuket

Phuket plays a major role, with the island’s natural beauty and some of its best hotels providing the perfect backdrop.

Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas

Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas – The luxurious spa scenes were filmed here, surrounded by lotus ponds and open-air pavilions.

Rosewood Phuket

Rosewood Phuket – The show’s restaurant scenes were filmed in the gorgeous, open-air Ta Khai restaurant.

Café del Mar on Kamala Beach is of Phuket’s coolest beach clubs, this spot delivers laid-back Ibiza vibes with a Thai twist, and you’ll recognise it from the beach club scenes.

Phuket also delivers some of the show’s most action-packed moments, with Muay Thai boxing scenes filmed at Bangla Boxing Stadium and yacht arrivals taking place at Yacht Haven Marina

Bangkok

Some of the city’s iconic sights make an appearance, including its bustling night markets. If you’re after your own White Lotus-inspired city experience, we can arrange a glittering night in Bangkok, from rooftop cocktails to exploring the waterways by longtail boat, and beyond.
