1. Numo Ierapetra – Adults-Only Luxury Crete Resort
How to get there?
Just over an hour from Heraklion airport, I would recommend the transfers rather than hiring a car, especially for those staying a week or less.
Is this hotel best for couples only or would it also suit families?
As one of Crete’s adults-only resorts, Numo Lerapetra is one of the best Crete resorts for couples and honeymooners. However, if you are a family looking to go, teenagers from sixteen and up are welcome!
Which was your favourite room?
The Evergreen Junior Suite.
How would you describe the style of the hotel?
Cool and boho with an Asian inspired twist. It has a strong wellness aspect with yoga by the pool, gym and fitness instructors, this is the perfect place to relax, unwind and fall asleep on a chunky lounger, listening to the poolside tunes. I saw plenty of honeymooners and also a number of couples on their babymoon. As well as plenty of people simply looking for a break under the sun-kissed Cretan sky.
Does Numo Ierapeta Resort have private pools?
This Crete resort/hotel does indeed have private pools available, depending on the room. The aforementioned Evergreen Suite comes with its own individual pool for you and your guests.
Which three words would best describe Numo Ierapetra?
Contemporary, refreshing and serene.
Would you book half board or just bed and breakfast?
If you are going for a week or more, bed and breakfast. If you’re there for under a week, the food choice and quality are well worth staying in-house for.
What makes this luxury Crete beach resort unique?
The southern coast of Crete is less developed and quieter than other spots, there is plenty to do, from gorge walks and visiting quaint mountain villages to fabulous scuba diving experiences. Numo Ierapetra resort has its own dive centre catering for all… from novice swimming pool dives to those capable and brave enough for an underwater cave dive! This phenomenal luxury resort is also involved in an underwater art and photography project just off the beach.
Beach or Pool?
Although the beach is unspoilt, it’s not golden sand, so we spent most of our time poolside. For the ultimate beach day, head down to Ierapetra’s Old Town and catch a boat to Chryssi Island.
2. St. Nicolas Bay Resort – Luxury Crete Hotel & Villas
How to get there?
Just under an hour and a half drive from Heraklion Airport. I’d recommend the hotel transfer over driving.
Is this hotel best for couples only or would it also suit families?
St. Nic definitely has the appeal for those looking for a luxury family holiday in Crete and couples, with a huge level of repeat guests staying year after year. The hotel owner (and architect!) has an eye for detail and everything in the hotel, from the paintings and lamps to gardens, grounds and plans is beautifully kept. The property is currently investing heavily in an adults-only lap pool and children’s play area so that both families and couples can have their own spaces to enjoy.
Which was your favourite room?
I loved the new Sea and Olive Rooms – contemporary with really good-sized pools (big enough for a few strokes, not just a dip!). The Seafront Club Suite would be my ultimate choice for a couple.
Does this Crete luxury hotel have private pools?
The Thalasso three-bed villa’s offer incredible views and full-size private swimming pools, so brilliant for families looking for more space. The Seafront Club Suite also has a private pool with stunning views.
Which three words would best describe St. Nicolas Bay?
Fabulous service, sense of place, old school style (sorry more than three!)
What was the food like?
There is a choice of three restaurants, so something for everyone. I strongly recommend the dine around option. Don’t miss Greek night on Wednesday’s, opah! The hotel will also provide a list of hidden local gems to try.
What makes this Crete luxury hotel & villa unique?
Look out for Alex the GM. He is so hands on, you can’t really miss him and he drives the hotel’s atmosphere, ensuring everyone loves their stay.
What’s the beach like?
Small but perfectly formed. There are many secluded spots to find privacy. The hotel never feels busy as it’s spread out and low-rise. Some stick to their room, some to the pool and so their small beach copes admirably.
3. Daios Cove – 5-Star Luxury Crete Resort & Suites
How to get there?
About 55 mins drive from Heraklion airport.
Is this hotel best for couples only or would it also suit families?
Daios would appeal to either couples or families looking for a Crete luxury holiday. Each guesthouse brushes seamlessly alongside each other and there is space to find privacy and seclusion if you need it. There is a great kids club which is soon to be expanded. Families with young children should be aware there are some unavoidable stairs although most of the hotel is connected without having to use them. A reliable buggy service to the rooms seemed to be a great source of fun for the families we saw when we were there!
Which was your favourite room?
All the rooms are fabulous but the higher you are, the better the view and the more chance of catching the evening light streaming into your room. The 7th or 8th floor is where I would lay my hat.
Which three words would best describe Daios Cove?
Stunning, luxurious and glamorous
What was the food like?
A great choice of dining beautifully delivered and presented meals and lovely staff in the restaurants. I loved the Greek restaurant and the beach bar. The quality and range of the wines, champagnes and drinks on offer as part of the all-inclusive package is amazing.
Does this Crete luxury hotel have private pools?
Daois Cove is also one of Crete’s luxury hotels that provide guests with their very own private pool, depending on the room booked.
The beach and cove look amazing!?
It really is an absolutely stunning location, and my favourite part of the Daios story is that their cove offered protection from the now owner of the hotel, during a storm which caught him out when fishing. He vowed at the time to return and buy the land surrounding the cove, which he did. Then he built the hotel and that’s how Daios Cove began!
Overall, these three luxury Crete resorts offer stunning views, delicious dining, and idyllic beach fronts. Which one will you choose? Learn more below or get in touch.
