Constance Halaveli Resort, Maldives
Positioned in the Maldives’ North Ari Atoll, close to some of the world’s best diving spots, Constance Halaveli Resort combines island romance perfectly with a range of activities that will keep even the most energetic brides and grooms happy. The island is tiny, but has a tennis court, badminton court, beach volleyball and a fully equipped state-of-the-art gym. All non-motorised water sports, such as catamaran sailing (compulsory orientation at a cost), pedal boats, windsurfing and kayaking are offered complimentary. Snorkelling is possible direct from the beach in the resort’s clear lagoon and, for the more adventurous, there’s a superb PADI-qualified dive centre. We definitely felt that we were in good hands with the attentive staffs, who have even been awarded PADI Five Star Instructor Development Gold Palm Resort status. The warm tropical waters around Halaveli team with a rich diversity – thousands of colourful fish, coral, turtle, ray and shark species invite you to explore their magnificent underwater habitat.
Other activities include water skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, sunset cruises and private excursions to local islands for ultra-romantic, totally deserted picnics. Featuring the longest over-water jetty in the Maldives, the 500-foot wooden jetty houses all of Constance Halaveli Resort’s 57 Water Villas with their own private plunge pools. The villas are stylish and surprisingly private, as they’ve been built in the shape of a curved dhoni (Maldivian sailing boat). The rest of the villas are dotted along the white-sand beach, which circles the island. They’re either single or double-storey retreats with private plunge pools and tropical outdoor bathrooms. All villas also boast relaxing outdoor space, beautifully fitted bathrooms and generous indoor living with WiFi, LCD TVs, DVD players, Mac mini entertainment systems, iPod connections, mini bars, wine coolers and even a pillow menu. The Spa de Constance uses only natural products, with an ethos that offers natural healing and nurturing from within. We loved the morning yoga class followed by stretching on the beach just after sunrise.
