Located on the Musandam Peninsula in the Sultanate of Oman, Six Senses Zighy Bay is luxury at its best. The natural beauty of the resort’s surroundings makes it the perfect destination for a luxury Oman holiday or wellness retreat. This divine escape is a total refuge for the mind, body and soul with yoga classes and sunset views. For those who get their kicks from a little more spice, the list of activities on offer is almost endless. From paragliding, mountain biking and hiking, to rock climbing, scuba diving, sea kayaking and sunset cruises, there is a veritable feast of experiences and many showcasing the fascinating culture of Oman.
Here are some of the many reasons to visit Six Senses Zighy Bay from one of our experts who was recently there:
Drop dead gorgeous!
Everywhere you look is just stunning. White sand beaches, plenty of natural stone architecture, the designs of the two different pools and the pops of yellow and orange for the sunbeds on the beach – Everything just works. When you swim out to sea and look at the hotel from the ocean it is just so well put together. Sandy paths to cycle along, loads of palm trees. Stunning. Everything feels spaced out enough to be private but not too far to feel isolated. They just get it spot on.
The Rooms:
The rooms are huge! The Villas have their own pool and ‘beach garden’ which is large, some have magical sunset views and others a personal spa treatment room. They are extremely private but also only a 30 second walk to the beach. As for the style the Middle Eastern flavours are in abundance with cool white-washed walls, colourful plump cushions and shady living and dining areas.
So many activities!
They have a full schedule every day which changes, including yoga classes, water sports as well as sustainable classes like paper making or soap making etc. They have lots of complementary activities like tennis and archery, paddle boarding, snorkelling as well as bikes to cycle around the sandy palm paths. An Amazing opportunity there is the paragliding! It is an exciting and incredible way to see the resort from about with a professional who has been doing it before the resort was built. Very cool. You also get a breath-taking view of the House reef! The House reef is right of the beach and amazing for snorkelling as there are so many turtles, fish and mini sting rays! There is so much to do and endless fun to be had.
The Food:
Dining is as memorable as the location. Every night they change which restaurants are open and there is an amazing variety of choices. Our favourite has to be Sense of the Edge for a mountain-top, fine dining sensory extravaganza. The Spice Market is for all things ‘Arabia’ in an authentic setting and for a unique Bedouin dining feast head to the Shua Shack. for lunch there is two beach bars for light bites, as well as Summer House which has a cool and calm vibe.
Amazing for families and couples:
They cater for both families and couples with great kids and teens clubs and exciting activity programs, educational too! Plus all the staff are just brilliant with kids and babysitting services so you can get quiet time when you need. Children under six can stay and eat for free and those aged six to eleven get half-price. For couples it is super romantic, beautiful and private.
