Sable Alley, Botswana
Okavango Delta

Sable Alley, Botswana

This classic safari-luxe camp is wonderfully located in the Okavango Delta amid the famously game-rich floodplains of the Khwai Private Reserve - one of Botswana’s best kept secrets. It overlooks a beautiful lagoon which connects to the Khwai River and borders the well-known Moremi Game Reserve to the south, with Chobe National Park to the east. A reincarnation of a former original bush camp, Sable Alley is refreshingly light and stylish – one of the Delta’s new breed of sleek, safari retreats – casually chic and understated, yet with all the wow-factor of a luxury camp. What’s more, it is as sustainable as it is sophisticated. Part of the award-winning Natural Selection portfolio of 'safari camps with character', Sable Alley has partnered with local communities in Khwai, ensuring that proceeds from staying here go straight back into Khwai Village community projects.

Sable Alley

Sleep

Sable Alley is all about space! The camp has twelve enormous tents, at 55 square metres each, including one honeymoon tent and two family tents. All are raised on decks with a private verandah and all enjoy sweeping views over the wildlife-dotted lagoon. Each has an ensuite with an indoor and outdoor open-air shower so you watch the 'ellies' at the nearby waterhole (the elephants are an all-time favourite at the camp!) Beautifully designed, you will immediately feel at one with your surroundings here! This is the Delta at its safari-chic best!

Play

The wildlife is exceptional. Located right on the banks of a lily-covered lagoon, home to a resident pod of hippo and a popular drinking spot for elephant and buffalo, the big game quite literally comes to you at Sable Alley! But as tempting as it is to stay in camp, once you've ventured out into the Khwai Reserve, you will quickly understand why it offers one of Africa’s greatest and most exclusive safari experiences. Set on the northern edge of the Delta, the Khwai’s diverse habitats include floodplains, waterways and riparian and mopane woodlands, all of which support a vast array of wildlife including red lechwe, waterbuck, many antelope species, as well as lion, leopard, spotted hyena and wild dog.

Morning, afternoon and evening game drives, mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursions through the waterways and guided walks along the banks of the Khwai River are all part of the experience here. And after an exhilarating day of wildlife-spotting, relax by the pool and watch the hippos emerge from the lagoon or at dusk, witness another glorious Delta sunset, complete with G&T in hand! The Delta just doesn’t get any better than this!
