Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town
A Capetonian icon for over 100 years, the Belmond Mount Nelson is the most renowned luxury hotel in Cape Town. Steeped in history and tradition, this legendary city landmark enjoys a wonderful setting in a beautiful garden estate beneath Table Mountain. Distinctly pink since 1923, the ‘Pink Lady’ or ‘Pink Palace’ as it is known by locals, first opened its doors in 1899 to provide elegant accommodation for passengers of the old Union and Castle shipping lines. Today, it is an urban sanctuary which still retains its colonial-era heritage but with a refreshing contemporary flair and what’s more, families are especially welcome.

Interconnecting rooms and suites offer spacious accommodation with views of the nine acre gardens, the two swimming pools or Table Mountain.
Spa-loving parents can indulge in a treatment at the Librisa Spa while their little ones have fun at the Nellie and Nelson Activity Centre. Family-friendly dining is a casual poolside affair at the Oasis Bistro whilst the chic galaxy-themed Planet Restaurant (one of the coolest places to be seen in Cape Town) allows children before 7pm. And no stay would be complete without experiencing afternoon tea in the Mount Nelson lounge - an age-old Cape Town institution!
Swimming lessons can be arranged in the outdoor heated family pool and there’s kiddies tennis too. Those keen to go exploring can take advantage of the complimentary car service to and from Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront and the palm-fringed beach enclave of Camps Bay. Venture further afield in a hire car and you can ride horses on Noordhoek Beach or meet penguins down at Boulders Beach.
