Cardamon Tented Camp, Cambodia

Each of the tents has a queen or double bed, a fan, bamboo and rattan furniture and ensuite bathrooms have hot water and rain showers. Each has an outside deck overlooking the natural surroundings. Their open-air communal style restaurant is located on the banks of the Preak Tachan River, offering a set menu of delicious local Khmer dishes.

In front of the camp a floating platform is the starting point for all activities. Guests can help themselves to kayaks and head off down river to explore this pristine environment. Organised trips, include trekking with a ranger from the Wildlife Alliance to explore the jungle environment and observe the work they are doing to reduce poachers in the area. This is definitely one for nature lovers and those seeking a wilderness experience. Cardamon Camp is as remote as it gets and a stay here really is an escape from our busy lives - the peace tranquillity is all encompassing, and with very sporadic wifi you’ll completely switch off.

To get here you can drive from the Trat in Thailand or from Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville, so you can easily combine Cardamon Camp with the beaches in the south. Depending on the traffic and roads it can take around five hours to the departure lounge, where you’ll meet the camp host and take a longtail boat the rest of the way, a journey of forty minutes.
