Boracay
Boracay is one of the best known islands and most popular islands of the Philippines due to its four kilometre white sand beach, which is lined with hotels, restaurants and bars. The sand is so powder soft it squeaks between your toes and it is pure white, the sea turquoise - great for snorkelling and also diving. Whilst it is a busy little island it also has a unique charm and is not tacky or spoilt – it is fun and vibrant and perfect for those looking to include a bit of nightlife in their holiday. There are some really great restaurants right on the sand and the outdoor shopping malls have a great choice of boutique shops and quaint little side alleys with hidden coffee shops and local bars. The hotels we feature are located at the quieter end of the beach, away from the crowds, perfect to enjoy peaceful days relaxing by the pool, or on the beach, but you can access the nightlight with just a 10 minute shuttle or local motorised tricycle – the Philippines' version of a tuk-tuk – a small scooter with a side carriage, a really fun, and cheap way of getting about.
Boracay can be accessed by a short flight into nearby Caticlan from Manila or Cebu, where you’ll hop on a boat for a short 15 minute cruise over to the island. Alternatively you can fly internationally from Hong Kong or Singapore into Kalibo airport which is about an hour and a half drive away, followed by a short boat ride. This makes it quite accessible and one of the easiest islands to include as the first or last stop on an itinerary.
