Rooms are spread across a hillside with different room types snaking up the cliff to make the most of the spectacular views. The style is traditional luxury with Asian touches with teak wood, natural stone and plenty of use of natural foliage to ensure privacy and emphasis the natural setting. Accommodation is in pods of rooms, the Deluxe Room on the lower level, some with garden views and Premier Sea View Rooms right at the front with breath-taking views. Further up the hill are the Tree House Villas with downstairs bedrooms and living space with an outside jacuzzi upstairs. In the same location the two storey Loft Villas have their own pools. On the other side of the headland stunning one bedroom villas and pool villas are tucked discreetly into the gardens with their own private garden, and one even with its own private beach access. All rooms except the Tree Houses can take two adults and two children but for those seeking space there are two bedroom villas with a generous living area and huge gardens.

The resort has a fantastic kids club with all sorts of activities to keep the little ones busy and a separate entertainment zone for older kids including pool tables, computer games, a great place for them to hang out in the day or evening.

For food and drink you’ll be spoilt for choice in the resort. With some of the best sunsets in the Philippines, there are plenty of sundowner spots. The Alon Bar, located right on the beach, with live music and fire dancing on the sand is a great place to start off your evening. For a much quieter, more romantic spot, The Solana Bar has private cabanas hanging over the cliff edge – they serve tapas here so you could dine here as well and stay the whole evening – this is one of our favourite spots in the resort. Vintana is the resorts’ main restaurant with all day international dining. Cileo serves up local and international dishes round the pool so you don’t have to move far from your sunbed. Sirena serves up local seafood with wonderful views and Rima offers southern European dishes in a romantic tree house setting.

Chi-The Spa at Shangri La Boracay really is quite something. It is almost a resort in itself with ten individual private spa villas, each with bathing facilities, a steam room and private garden. Choose from a whole list of treatments and you could easily spend the whole day here.
