Elephant Hills – The Bush Camp, Chiang Mai

Following the success of their acclaimed camp in Khao Sok National Park, the first luxury tented camp of its kind in Thailand, we are delighted the Elephant Hills team have created a similar experience in beautiful countryside on the banks of the Mae Ping River just outside Chiang Mai.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Chiang Mai, you will be able to experience local life close to nature without missing out on the luxuries of an excellent equipped glamping tent with hot and cold shower, electricity, Wi-Fi and a magnificent view from your own spacious balcony.

A great combination with a stay in the city; an overnight here offers guests the chance to experience Thailand’s majestic giants in their natural home, whilst enjoying views of the lush vegetation and misty mountains, typical of Northern Thailand.

Your experience starts with a pickup from the airport or your Chiang Mai hotel, transferring to the camp – approximately two hours drive.

Arrive in the late morning and enjoy a delicious Thai lunch, before checking in to your luxury tent and enjoying the activities in and around the Elephant Camp.

You’ll visit their free-roaming cain free elephant park. Feed and interact with the elephants and spend time in the elephant café, whilst the elephants roam peacefully in front of you. You’ll have the chance to explore the life of the mahouts and see how they live together with nature and their elephants. Encounter the traditions of the mahout, watching their families pound rice, weave their own hand-made clothes. Sample some of their cooking and help them make paper from elephant dung!!!

You’ll have time to relax by the pool before enjoying a sundowner, cooking demonstration and delicious buffet dinner whilst overlooking beautiful mountain vistas.

After a delicious bush breakfast, head to the ‘free roaming forest’ and sample ‘Kafee Boran’ and ‘kanom krok, a traditional coffee and breakfast snack enjoyed by the mahouts and see how the elephants are cared for. Watch them enjoy their morning wash and learn about how they are cared for. After a morning of activities, you’ll return to Chiang Mai, either to your next hotel or airport.

Note: Pick up is from 08.30 and return to Chiang Mai is around 13:30. Joint transfers, accommodation, activities, meals and guides are included, however drinks are payable locally in cash.

The Bush Camp also offer a 2 night experience with time to spend relaxing at the lodge and enjoying the beautiful views as well as additional elephant encounters.
