Thailand Family Holidays 2025/2026

The Land of Smiles is the perfect blend of discovery and adventure for your family holiday, combined with warm and welcoming beach resorts that will appeal to any of your little ones, no matter what their age.

Bangkok for family holidays

Bangkok is a vibrant and exciting city, steeped in tradition and yet thoroughly modern. Soaring skyscrapers mix with colourful temples and exotic palaces – your children will be in awe! Explore the backwater klongs (canals) on a longtail boat or experience the city’s frenetic buzz from the back of a tuk tuk! The floating market in Damnoen Saduak and the ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ at Kanchanaburi, all lie within a three-hour radius. We recommend families stay at Siam Kempinski for its convenient central location and fabulous resort style pool.

Northern Thailand for families

The ancient city of Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle region in the north are the perfect base from which to discover Thailand’s rich culture, which, when combined with forested mountain treks, elephant encounters and cycle rides through remote, authentic hill tribe villages, will forge lasting memories for your children to cherish on your family holiday. The Four Seasons in Chiang Mai has the perfect set up for kids with plenty of family activities from rice planting to kiddy yoga or up in the Golden Triangle the Anantara Golden Triangle children can learn what it takes to be an elephant mahout - just imagine their little faces as they feed a banana to a baby elephant!

The Beaches of the South

Discover the jungles and wildlife of the impossibly beautiful Khao Sok National Park in Thailand’s south west and then admire the iconic ‘007’ landscape of Phang Nga Bay from the deck of your very own sailing junk. Thailand’s serene islands and beaches are still captivating even the most seasoned of travelling families! Many of our hotels boast their own unique charm and offer extra little touches to make your children feel special. From adventurous tented camps such as Elephant Hills to luxurious hotels (The Slate, Anantara Layan, Kimpton Kitalay and Santiburi amongst our family holiday favourites) Thailand has all the ingredients for pampering both parents and children alike!

The diversity of landscapes, fascinating culture and mesmerising choice of beaches can be daunting when planning your family holiday, so Turquoise has carefully crafted some unforgettable journeys to help you make the most of this exotic destination! Journey through stunning scenery of the north with our Northern Thailand family Adventure - Or consider combining a rainforest adventure in Khao Sok National Park with some of Thailand’s best family beach resorts on our Southern Beach and Jungle Adventure

We can tailor a personalised itinerary specially designed to suit your family’s requirements, just talk to one of our experienced team who have all personally visited many the resorts we feature and can suit the perfect mix of family activities and gorgeous family resorts to you and yours.

When to travel to Thailand on a family holiday

One of our favourite things about Thailand is that whatever time of year you are looking to go on holiday, there will be a beach swathed in sunshine awaiting your arrival. During the British summer months, we would suggest the Gulf of Thailand on the East Coast, whereas if you are looking for sunnier climes during our winter months the weather is a lot more reliable on the Andaman, West Coast.

Thailand Festivals

Another consideration when planning what time to travel is the number of exciting festivals Thailand celebrates throughout the year. The specific dates can change year on year but a few not to miss are Songkran festival which takes place mid-April and celebrates a traditional New Year’s Day. The celebrations are quite animated with many tourist joining in as streets are filled with people soaking one another – expect to get very wet whilst also observing a joyous tradition.

Mid November brings Loy Krathong (The Moon Festival) when Thai people give thanks and ask for wishes to be granted. Believers decorate small boats with flowers, coins, and candles, and then release them into the water as an offering to Khongha, the water goddess – a wonderful spectacle for the children to witness.
