Ancient Hue, Vietnam
Every now and then, we come across a truly special retreat, and that's exactly what we found in Ancient Hue. Tucked away in a residential neighbourhood near the historical city of Hue, this hidden gem is a perfect haven. The Citadel and the main shopping and dining areas of the city are just a 30-minute walk, 15-minute cycle, or 5-minute taxi ride from the resort, making it an ideal place to retreat after a day of exploration.
Ancient Hue
The accommodation is built in the style of old wooden villas, in two wings overlooking the small pool. Each of the Royal Villas is uniquely designed with antiques, and outside terraces overlooking the immaculate gardens.
As its name suggests, Ancient embraces a style reminiscent of old Vietnam, featuring traditional wooden villas arranged around a central building that houses the restaurant. The resort was originally an authentic Vietnamese restaurant, widely regarded as one of the best in the city. The restaurant boasts an old-world Mandarin style, complete with an original altar with antiques and ancient tapestries. Over time, the property has expanded to offer accommodation. Outside guests visit here for the delicious tasting menus on offer.
The whole vibe is serene, ornate and intimate and the service is impeccable and friendly. You are made to feel so welcome in this home from home and we love exploring this suburb of Hue, a unique opportunity to observe local life by foot or by borrowing one of the hotels bikes to meander around the vicinity. There is also a small spa and gym.
