Davidson’s Safari Camp - Mt Borrowdale, Arnhem Land
Located in the northeast corner of Australia’s Northern Territory, Arnhemland is a vast unspoiled wilderness area, home to the Yolngu traditional landowners and only visited by privileged few as permits are required to visit. It borders well known Kakadu National Park and with far fewer visitors is a truly authentic opportunity to connect with this ancient culture with sacred art sites and burial grounds dating back over 50,000 years. Davidson’s Camp, with the permission of the landowners, is located at Mount Borrowdale, an incredible setting, surrounded by a landscape of rugged escarpment and untouched billabongs and unique ecosystems teeming with birdlife and crocodiles.

Davidson's Safari Camp
The friendly lodge guides have an incredible knowledge of the area, and with the permission of the landowners, love to show guests this magnificent area. Within half an hour drive from the lodge you can visit rock shelters, walk through savannah woodland seeking bush tucker, take a boat trip through the floodplains to see some of the 275 bird species of the region and walk up one of the many escarpments to find spectacular stone arrangements and art sites. Take a dip in one of the natural swimming holes, or even by the lodge’s own pool.
Guests will usually spend 3 -4 days (a minimum stay of 2) here and experiences will be tailored around your personal interests, usually starting with as short walk to see their famous Rainbow Serpent, where you will learn about the local rock art, the geology of the area and about local bush tucker and in the late afternoon relax on the billabong observing wildlife, including the many crocodiles that inhabit the waterholes, finishing with a glass of wine and nibbles as the sun sets over the plain.
This is a simple lodge, with comfortable accommodation and a friendly atmosphere. The luxury is the location, but you’ll find everything you need for a memorable stay. The main common area with communal dining has full bar facilities and an indoor and outdoor lounge area, surrounding the pool. We’d recommend the spacious ensuite Deluxe Cabins with a living area. All meals, touring and permits are included in your stay.
Access is via a scenic flight, along the coastline from Darwin or along the Arnhemland Plateau from Jabiru and there is a luggage limit of 12kgs (luggage can be stored in Darwin). The lodge is open from March to mid-November.
