Nita Lake Lodge, Whistler

You can’t go wrong with which room you choose at Nita Lake Lodge. Each of the 77 suites and studios are more than big enough for two and most rooms also have a sofa bed for families or groups travelling together. In true Canadian cabin style, each abode has its own fireplace to warm the toes come winter. In the summer months, opt for a one-bedroom or two-bedroom suite and enjoy your private balcony and separate living area. For celebrations and families, the Glade Suite offers a great entertaining space, large balcony and its own kitchen, too – a very popular spot for destination wedding parties.

Nita Lake’s grab-and-go coffee bar Fix Café, is a popular pre-adventure café, while the Cure Lounge and Patio offers cocktails and bar snacks on your return. Aura is the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, where head chef James Olberg takes great pride in designing his menu entirely around locally sourced produce, some of which comes from the hotel’s own rooftop garden. The wine menu is just as impressive, with a huge number of bottles to choose from, including a fantastic collection of British Columbian tipples, too.

The village of Creekside is just a few minutes’ walk away, where you’ll find the popular après spot of Dusty’s Bar & BBQ next to the Creekside gondola – although it only operates during the ski season. Two of Whistler’s top restaurants, the Red Door Bistro and Rimrock Cafe are also located in Creekside, both of which must be booked in advance. Whistler village and the summer gondola are also very close and the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service year-round for guests. The valley trail is on the hotel’s doorstep, leading from Nita to Alta Lake, where you can spend a day stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking or relaxing lakeside. Rent a bike and head into town to explore Lost Lake and beyond. Back at base camp, the Nita Lake Spa is the perfect place to unwind, complete with rooftop hot tubs, a eucalyptus steam room and a multitude of treatments to choose from.
