L'Horizon Hotel and Spa, Palm Springs

Each of the 25 low slung bungalows are glass fronted, with views either overlooking the San Jacinto Mountains (request west facing) or towards the main pool area which lies glasslike and inviting at the heart of this intimate hotel. Bespoke furniture and the finest materials make up the interiors of each bungalow with a monochrome colour scheme and mix of modern and vintage décor throughout. We love the personalised door plaques, wooden toothbrushes and indoor/outdoor fireplaces giving each room a cosy and romantic alpine esque edge.

As part of the hotel’s re launch, Steve Hermann added SO.PA – a fine dining outdoor restaurant designed to give its guests a ‘summer in St. Tropez’ experience. The overhanging tree canopy comes alive at night with sparkling lights and the small yet open plan layout of the restaurant makes it romantic but not overly formal. One of our favourite touches is the long communal dining table, a hand carved walnut masterpiece which sits in the centre of the courtyard. Despite being such a private resort, it provides a very popular dining option for couples wanting to eat with those they have met whilst enjoying a pre dinner drink by the pool. During the day food is available wherever and the whenever the guests need to eat, be it around the pool, by the bar on in your private bungalow.

The guest experience at L’Horizon is extremely personalised and anything can be arranged. Fitness trainers, pilates teachers and hiking guides are all available through the concierge and complimentary yoga is offered at weekends during peak season. The brand new spa has four open-air treatment rooms or guests are welcome to choose to be pampered in their rooms or on their balconies. The main pool area is guests only and fully serviced, with complimentary surprises arriving on a regular basis such as mini massages and ice cream. The hotel offers free shuttles within a three-mile radius, so whether you are off for a morning coffee and amble through one of the many art deco galleries downtown or to Mister Parker’s (at The Parker Hotel) for an evening meal, there is no need to worry about having a cocktail or three.
