Fiji's idyllic outer islands have let the world into their secret and now offer some of the most unspoiled island experiences found anywhere on earth. South of Viti Levu, little-known Beqa Lagoon combines white sand beaches with world-class diving and a plethora of adventure at Pacific Harbour. The lagoon is home to one of Fiji's most secluded and romantic retreats, Royal Davui Island Resort.
The remote and pristine outlying Kadavu archipelago to the south is blessed with the impressive Great Astrolabe Reef, one of the largest barrier reefs on the planet. Whether you are here for the incredible diving or to master the art of blissful relaxation, Kokomo Island Resort is the paradisal place to rest your head.
The remote Lau group of islands, way out to the east, reveal a wilder side of Fiji, visited by only the most intrepid travellers. Just a few times a year, Captain Cook Cruises sets sail on an 11-night journey to the Lau Islands for a journey of discovery, exploring Taveuni and Kadavu along the way too.
Named after the French exploring vessel, Astrolabe, the Great Astrolabe Reef is one of the largest barrier reefs in the world, located about 100km south of Viti Levu and surrounding the islands of Kadavu, Ono and Yaukuve. Considered one of the best dive spots in the world, the reef is home to turtles, dolphins, manta rays and reef sharks as well as migrating humpback whales. Our favourite luxury hideaway here, Kokomo Island, located on Yaukuve Island, sits on the doorstep of this impressive reef, with a breathtaking House Reef for snorkelling and diving. Your stay at Kokomo includes an introductory SCUBA dive, and you can even complete your PADI course on-site.
