Kicheche Bush Camp, Kenya

Kicheche Bush Camp is a small, classic, intimate, luxury tented camp completely unfenced, amongst stunning whistling thorn acacias. The camp is small and exclusive, only having 6 tents stylish en-suite tents (also with ‘bucket’ shower and flushing toilet) that can hold a maximum of 12 guests at any one time. These ultra low-impact tents are hidden away in the low escarpment beyond, providing the perfect hideout for some of the best game viewing in the Mara.

The camp offer a range of safari activities, from walking safaris to photographic tours – all expertly run by the camps guides, who are some of the best in Kenya. Three of their guides are gold standard, the highest award available for guiding, and not easy to come across – it takes a lifetime of dedication. Also, if you’re lucky, the camp often has famous photographers staying at it – you might just get the chance to meet one, and gain some invaluable photographic advice.

The host Darren and Emma are great people to meet, they are not only charming and fun, but are core to the camps superb atmosphere. They bring a natural energy and knowledge, which will no doubt compliment your stay. Also, they know the area extremely well. They have even started to name the each animal in the area – they are that familiar with them.

Visits to local schools and villages are available, as well as an exclusive fly-camp in the bush – a unique opportunity to see the Mara from a different perspective – it is one of the purest forms of safari, and there are few places better to do it from in Africa.

Access is via a scheduled flight from Nairobi to the Mara Ol Kiombo airstrip followed by a 45 minute drive.
