Constance Lemuria, Seychelles

According to legend, Lemuria was once a fabled continent that sank in the Indian Ocean without a trace. It was here that many believed heaven existed on Earth and while its existence is still disputed to this day, its legacy lives on.

Sharing its name with this legendary lost continent is Constance Lemuria in the Seychelles, a dreamy resort tucked away in glorious seclusion on the north-west corner of Praslin – an island said to be the last remaining piece of Lemuria. While couples and families certainly won't feel lost at Constance Lemuria, its iridescent Indian Ocean waters, lush backdrop and gaze over not one, but three, beautiful beaches will give you the impression it hasn't been found. Everything here is at one with nature, with its selection of stylish suites and villas nestled within green vegetation and trio of pools wrapping themselves round rocky boulders. Wildlife abounds throughout the grounds of the resort and you'll spot herons and Seychellois red fody while basking on Anse Georgette, often lauded as one of the world's best beaches, while its sandy shores are important nesting grounds for hawksbill turtles, too.

The resort itself is a fusion of pink granite, marble, thatched-palm roofs and natural woods. The modern open-plan architecture is cleverly built to catch the cooling ocean breeze and always subtly draw you to the leafy outdoors. With a lost paradise on your doorstep, you'll find it difficult not to be drawn to the gorgeous natural beauty surrounding Constance Lemuria.

Sleep

Accommodation choices here follow the same elegant theme, with every suite and villa tumbling down a granite hillside and tucked within over 100 hectares of Seychellois gardens and palm-studded grounds. Junior suites are sleek and replete with stylish thatched roofs, while also being close to the shore and enjoying beautiful views. The Senior Suites offer more space, a bathroom equipped with a Jacuzzi bath and generous lounge area. For the ultimate indulgence though, we recommend one of the stunning Pool Villas. Set in stunning private gardens just steps from the beach, their clever design ensures you're always drawn towards the outside space and the gorgeous views of Grand Anse Kerlan beach and the Indian Ocean beyond. The perfect secluded hideaway, these villas also come complete with a Villa Master to look after your every need.

Eat

Dining comes in the form of three world-class restaurants which fuse Seychellois spice and flavour with the style and elegance of international cuisine. Legend is nestled within the lush foliage and enjoys magnificent ocean views while serving up a huge array dishes which differ depending on the evening you spend there – one night you could have an Indian feast while another could feature a spread of Chinese favourites. DIVA is the signature restaurant at Lemuria – expect delicious gourmet cuisine and superb service amid an elegant and modern setting, along with a sommelier wine room experience where you can try an impressive range of vintages. Set right on the sands of Petite Anse Kerlan, Takamaka is a dreamy spot for a barefoot lunch of sandwiches, ceviches and salads, before transforming into a relaxed bar and grill area in the evening. For sheer location though, the setting of The Nest is hard to beat, where you'll dine on Creole seafood perched on a dramatic rocky peninsula and overlooking the magnificent sands of Petite Anse Kerlan.

Play

At most resorts, you'd be pretty happy with one world-class beach to relax on. However, Constance Lemuria triples your value for money with three spectacular strips of sand to pick from. You'll be spoilt for choice but if there's one sugar-white stretch that will really blow you away, it's Anse Georgette, regularly voted as one of the best beaches on Earth. There are plenty of water sports you can enjoy off its shores, too, including kayaking, windsurfing, laser boats, pedalos and bodyboards.

Back on terra firma, there's an 18-hole award-winning golf course (the only one in the Seychelles), tennis courts and mountain bikes for hire so you can embark on a wider exploration of Praslin. If you want a day away from the resort, the Vallée de Mai nature reserve is a thick patch of jungle and tropical flowers in the middle of the island. Take to one of its numerous walking trails to spot the unusual coco de mer nut, endemic black parrot and Seychelles bulbul.

Pamper

Set within swaying palms is the tranquil Constance Spa, where you can indulge in the ultimate pampering experience. There are six treatment rooms providing the perfect setting for a range of massages, facials and body treatments, all utilising natural remedies inspired by plants from the Indian Ocean. There's everything you could possibly want from a spa here, from a podiatrist, hairdresser, sauna, steam room, hairdressers and more. Yoga lessons are also available.
