Your luxury safari refuge is one of 15 sleek, beautifully decorated stone and canvas tented suites, each with a king size bed, ensuite with free-standing oval bath tub, an outdoor shower and spacious private deck – complete with magnificent views over Marakele National Park. The design embraces the surrounding natural environment - rich, earthy, organic and truly magnificent! The tents bring you closer to nature but there's certainly no need to rough it!

Four of the suites are Family Suites which comprise two bedrooms - a king bedroom and a children's twin bedroom.

Romantics and adventurers alike should opt for a night at the Thabametsi Treehouse. Solar-powered and built over two levels, this remote luxury outpost promises an extraordinary night under the African stars! The treehouse has an enclosed shower room, a bedroom, lounge and viewing decks - presenting the Waterberg and Marakele plains in all their wild glory! Arrive at dusk to a delicious picnic and watch as the views unfold. The slopes of the red-hued Waterberg Mountains will be set ablaze at sunset! Your field guide is on call should you need them! Come morning, wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee as the sun rises before joining a game drive back to the lodge!

Marataba is pure and wild! Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in traditional open safari vehicles, guided bush walks and unhurried morning and sunset water safaris which offer a different perspective and change of pace. This is Big Five territory on a privately managed conservancy so you can be assured of a very personal and exclusive safari experience. You will get within close range of some of Africa's most impressive species whilst the Waterberg mountain range provides a spectacular backdrop. 

Kids aged 12 years and younger can join the Mack and Madi Kids Adventure Safari Club which offers a wide variety of activities to keep children entertained. Choose from bush orientation, basic survival skills, animal 'spoor' identification and mould making, bug CSI, rock painting, binocular making and  painting with nature, not to mention learning about the Southern Hemisphere's stars and constellations. There's also a dedicated Eco Garden Play Area where younger ones can join treasure hunts, create bead necklaces and bracelets and enjoy marshmallow roasting before settling down for cinema under the stars.

Between the hours spent on safari, those in need of relaxation can lie by the pool or indulge in a pampering in-suite spa treatment. Yoga mats provide the opportunity for yoga sun salutations surrounded by the endless green of the Marakele - this awe-inspiring setting certainly provides a head start in the healing stakes!

A guest favourite at Marataba is a safari-chic bush picnic with a feast set out on a blanket in the prettiest part of the reserve. Bush dinners lit by lanterns and cosy firepits are always a special treat in the wilds of Africa. All meals, snacks and drinks (excluding premium bands) are included. Sundowners in dramatic locations are the perfect way to wind down after an exhilarating day on safari!
